ABOUT THE ARTIST
Barbara Cardone was born and raised in Lausanne in 1972. After graduating from high school in Geneva, with a strong focus on plastic arts, she engaged in a wide range of different activities in the field of arts, including printmaking, plastic art interventions in theatre and cinema. At the same time she further developed her personal creative skills and style, driven by many influences, such as the Flemish and Italian primitives, lost memories, or meetings with Jane Doe.
Having obtained the Swiss award Atelier suisse de Bruxelles, she first moved to Brussels in 2012, where her paintings received wide acclaim. Between 2017 and 2020, back in Switzerland, her work focussed more on monotypes or drawings, which will now be shown for the first time. In 2020, she returned to Brussels, where she pursues her creative work, while at the same time engaging in further studies at La Cambre art school.
Her works have been shown in solo and group shows, as well as art fairs, notably at Rossi RossiContemporay and Aeroplastics, Brussels (Belgium) - Thomas Rehbein Galerie, Köln (Germany) - Galerie de l’Hôtel de Ville, Galerie 16, Yverdon-les-Bains and Accrochage Vaud, Lausanne (Switzerland) - Galerie Lakaye, Los Angeles (USA) or Galerie Monnin, Port-au-Prince (Haïti)
